National Conference to be held in Texas!

September 22-25, 2010 Fairmont Hotel Dallas, Texas

Early-bird registration opportunity expires at midnight this Saturday. NCEW members who register by July 31 get the $200 registration fee completely waived. We’re trying to be sure that we get this word out across the board so that our Texas members, in particular, are sure to take advantage of this cost savings before week’s end.

The convention of the National Conference of Editorial Writers, the nation's premier association for opinion journalists, will focus on your changing craft, ways to transform your opinion pages and top-flight newsmakers. From the keynote speech of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to the critique of U.S. energy policy by T. Boone Pickens to the practical "NCEW-U" skills workshops and individual newspaper critiques, this will be an editorial writers' conference you won't forget.

Other confirmed speakers include Antonio Garza, former U.S. ambassador to Mexico; Geronimo Gutierrez, former deputy foreign minister of Mexico; former U.S. Census director Steve Murdock; Texas Gov. Rick Perry; writer and investigative reporter Kurt Eichenwald; San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro; Dallas District Attorney Craig Watkins; Texas Tribune’s Evan Smith; and a number of Pulitzer Prize winning journalists. For more information and to register, go to NCEW.org.

We all know that news budgets are tight. That's all the more reason to consider the rare benefit of a first-rate national convention being held in your own backyard.  Combined with the early bird discount, this is a smoking hot deal!
