2011 Treasurer Selected!

The TDNA Board has selected Michael Vivio to serve as Treasurer for the 2011 term, making him President-elect for 2013. Mr. Vivio is the publisher of the Austin American Statesman and CEO of the Statesman Co., which publishes newspapers and websites, and also acts as a regional commercial printer and distribution company. He is responsible for all business and editorial operations of the Statesman and its affiliated publications, including Statesman.com, Austin360.com, and 10 weekly community newspapers.
During his tenure at the Statesman Co., the organization has launched two successful community newspapers, a website called hookem.com, and recently purchased InFactDaily, an online newsletter offering in-depth coverage of City Hall. Under Michael’s leadership the Statesman has recently taken steps to increase accountability reporting by launching PolitifactTexas, a truth-testing feature aimed at political speech. This spring the newspaper was named Best Metro Newspaper by the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors and Statesman.com was named Best Metro Online Newspaper by the same organization.
Michael is married to Beth Vivio, a full-time community volunteer and has two sons, ages 7 and 11. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Salvation Army, Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, United Way Capital Area, and Texas Daily Newspaper Association. He is past president of the Heart of Texas Better Business Bureau.
